Grants Funded

RGI clients have received $113 million in federal and state grants—the direct result of using our professional services. We’re proud of our record of success but even more pleased that the outcomes provide genuine opportunities for improving people’s lives in significant and long-lasting ways. Following is a summary of recent awards.

2008 – 2009

$9.9 million six-year U.S. Department of Education GEAR UP Grant for providing early intervention services to at-risk youth in 7 school districts and assisting them in enrolling in postsecondary education.

$13.4 million six-year U.S. Department of Education GEAR UP Grant for providing early intervention services to at-risk youth in 10 school districts and assisting them in enrolling in postsecondary education.

$489,068 two-year Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction, Math & Science Partnership Grant – to provide Math and Science professional development for 60 teachers in two high-need school districts.

$2.4 million five-year Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction – for five 21st Century Community Learning Centers offering after school programs.

$1.6 million five-year Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction – for four 21st Century Community Learning Centers offering after school programs.

2007

$600,000 two-year U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Hispanic-Serving Institutions Assisting Communities Program Grant – to develop a public facility to serve as an early learning, training and family support center and train residents interested in developing home-based child care businesses.

$1.3 million four-year U.S. Department of Education Upward Bound Grant – to provide low-income and at-risk high school students with early outreach, college preparation and academic support services to improve college enrollment and graduation rates.

$1.9 million five-year U.S. Department of Education College Assistance Migrant Program Grant – to provide first-year college students from a migrant or seasonal farmworker background with support services to help them succeed in college.

$6.0 million four-year U.S. Departments of Education, Health and Human Services and Justice, Safe Schools/Healthy Students Initiative Grant – to implement a comprehensive community-wide strategy for creating safe and drug-free schools for a Consortium of schools district and other community providers.

$1.1 million three-year U.S. Department of Education School Counseling Grant – to provide expanded school counseling services in five rural, geographically isolated elementary schools through partnerships with a local higher education institution and local mental health providers.

$2.8 million five-year Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction – for six 21st Century Community Learning Centers offering after school programs.

$398,000 two-year Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction Readiness-To-Learn Grant to fund school-based case managers working with at-risk families and students in eight school districts.

2004 – 2006

$13.0 million six-year U.S. Department of Education GEAR UP Grant for providing early intervention services for at-risk youth and assist them to enroll in postsecondary in 1 tribal school and12 school districts.

$11.8 million six-year U.S. Department of Education GEAR UP Grant for providing early intervention services for at-risk youth and assist them to enroll in postsecondary in 10 school districts.

$9.9 million six-year U.S. Department of Education GEAR UP Grant for providing early intervention services for at-risk youth and assist them to enroll in postsecondary education in 1 tribal school and 13 school districts.

$3.2 million five-year U.S. Department of Education Title V Hispanic-Serving Institutions Cooperative Arrangement Grant to provide distance learning and build technology capacity.

$598,380 two-year U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Hispanic-Serving Institutions Assisting Communities Program Grant – to build a Community Business and Training Center.

$576,331 one-year U.S. Department of Education – Community Technology Centers Grant to create centers for Latino farmworkers to teach English Literacy.

$534,126 three-year U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Community Outreach Partnership Center Grant to work in the community with small businesses, neighborhood revitalization and computer training.

$488,229 one-year U. S. Department of Education – Community Technology Centers Grant to create centers on tribal reservations to access educational and e-commerce training and resources.

$1.78 million five-year U.S. Department of Education College Assistance Migrant Program Grant to help first-year college students succeed.

$1.78 million five-year U.S. Department of Education High School Equivalency Program Grant for helping individuals obtain a GED and continue their education and careers.

$859,038 three-year U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Native American, Social and Economic Development Strategies Grant – to establish three business training and technology centers.
