Kassandra Ortega, BA

Program Specialist

Kassandra Ortega provides support in various capacities with RGI including office operations, technical support and data collection. Ms. Ortega is also a member of the grant-writing team where she provides support in the grant development phase. Her experience working with large data sets are vital in providing grant resources to underprivileged communities.

Prior to joining the RGI Team, Kassandra was employed with Natural Selection Farms located in the Yakima Valley. Her responsibilities included maintaining safety regulatory requirements and records necessary for organic certification. Ms. Ortega is bilingual and from the Yakima Valley where she regularly translated for farm workers at Natural Selection Farms and drastically improved the cross-culture understanding between the employer and the employees.

As a first-generation migrant college student, Ms. Ortega has experienced the barriers attributed to pursuing higher education. At Washington State University, Ms. Ortega founded Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Incorporated (LTA). The mission of LTA is to advance minority communities by providing funding for educational programming, scholarships and humanitarian relief. Each year the Lambda Theta Foundation raises funds to support personal and professional development to their members. Ms. Ortega received her BA in Digital Technology and Culture and a Minor in Business Administration from Washington State University in 2017.
